Wrap it like…
A Giant Sweet
Turn an ordinary box into an enormous candy wrapper—the fastest way to make a simple gift feel playful before it is even opened.

You need
- A sheet of tissue or lightweight wrapping paper wider than the gift
- Tape, scissors and two short lengths of ribbon or twine
- An ordinary boxed gift
How to do it
- Wrap the box normally first if its printing might show through.
- Centre it on a second sheet with generous paper extending beyond both short ends.
- Roll the paper around the box and secure the seam underneath.
- Gather one open end close to the box. Twist gently—do not wrench thin tissue until it tears.
- Tie the gathered end, then repeat on the other side.
- Fan out the paper ends and trim them evenly if needed.
Key trick
The exaggerated ends sell the illusion. Use more overhang than seems sensible, then tie close to the box so the “wrapper” looks generous rather than cramped.
Variations
Layer two colours of tissue for striped ends, use kraft paper and twine for an old-fashioned boiled sweet, or add a paper label around the centre. For a cylindrical gift, roll it directly in the paper and twist both ends.
Optional product help
Sharp scissors and double-sided tape keep the seam clean, but this project works perfectly well with the basic supplies already in your drawer.
