Wrap it like…
A Birthday Cake
Stack ordinary square and rectangular boxes, then use paper icing and candles to make the presents double as the party centrepiece.

DifficultyModerateTime25–35 minCostLowBest forTwo or three boxed gifts
You need
- Two or three boxes in descending sizes
- Plain wrapping paper
- Coloured card for icing, sprinkles and candles
- Scissors and double-sided tape
How to do it
- Wrap every box separately in the same base paper.
- Stack the largest box on the bottom and check the proportions before decorating.
- Cut long scalloped strips from coloured paper and attach them around each upper edge.
- Add a restrained scatter of paper sprinkles.
- Make flat candles from card and tape them to small folded supports on the top box.
- Transport the tiers separately, then stack them at the destination.
Key trick
Use clearly different box sizes and repeat the same icing edge on every tier. The repetition makes separate presents read as one cake.
Variations
Make a single-box sheet cake, use kraft paper with white icing for a quieter look, or replace candles with a paper cake topper.
Optional product help
Sharp scissors and double-sided tape help the paper details sit cleanly. Use supplies you already own unless a project genuinely calls for something different.
