Wrap it like…
An Envelope
A flat gift becomes oversized correspondence—ideal when a note, print, book or photo is part of the story.

DifficultyEasyTime10–15 minCostLowBest forFlat rectangular gifts
You need
- Cream, white or kraft paper
- A contrasting paper circle or seal
- Tape, scissors and optional string
How to do it
- Wrap the gift normally in plain paper.
- Cut a wide triangle or trapezoid large enough to form the back flap.
- Tape only the top edge of the flap to the back so its point folds downward.
- Add two shallower paper triangles from the sides if you want the full envelope geometry.
- Close the flap with a paper seal or a short loop of string.
- Tuck a small blank tag beneath the seal.
Key trick
Keep the flap edges crisp and symmetrical. The envelope illusion comes from the geometry, not extra decoration.
Variations
Use kraft paper and twine for parcel post, black paper with a neon seal for modern mail, or add a tiny paper stamp drawn by hand.
Optional product help
Sharp scissors and double-sided tape help the paper details sit cleanly. Use supplies you already own unless a project genuinely calls for something different.
